Get Involved

Become a Lighthouse Explorer

Whether you want to visit a lighthouse, discover stories from the Travelling Pharology Archive, come along to a talk or join one of our upcoming events, there are plenty of ways to get involved with Lighthouse Explorers.

You don’t need to be a lighthouse expert, and you don’t need to know anyone before you come along. Our events are about exploring lighthouse heritage, meeting new people and sharing an interest in the places and stories around us.

What’s coming up?

Group Trips

Explore lighthouses together

Join us for days out visiting lighthouses and maritime places across England and Wales. Come with friends or come on your own, everyone is welcome.

The Travelling Pharology Archive

Discover and share lighthouse stories

Our travelling community archive brings together objects, photographs, memories and stories connected to lighthouse heritage. Visit the Archive at one of its pop-ups, or contribute your own story.

Coming on your own?

You won’t be the only one! Lots of people come to Lighthouse Explorers events solo, while others bring friends, partners or family. You don’t need any specialist knowledge either. Come along, meet people and explore something interesting with us.

If you’re nervous about attending your first event, feel free to get in touch and I’ll happily tell you a little more about what to expect.

Where we’ve been

From Beachy Head and Belle Tout to Eddystone, South Foreland and Spurn Point, we’ve explored some incredible lighthouse sites together.

There was a timelessness here, and yet a sense of time greater than any before, that could only be found in a lighthouse.
