Hi there! I’m so glad you’ve found Lighthouse Explorers.
This is a space where I share my love for lighthouses, their fascinating history, and my incredible adventures visiting them. Over the past year, I’ve hosted group trips to amazing spots like Dungeness, Belle Tout, and Beachy Head lighthouses. Additionally, I’ve had the chance to go behind the scenes at Trinity Buoy Wharf lighthouse and Lightship 95.

On my blog, social media, and podcast (available on Spotify and Apple Podcasts), I bring you stories from these visits. I also include interviews with ex-lighthouse keepers and deep dives into lighthouse history. It’s a small but growing community, and we’d love for you to join us. Whether you’re an adventurer, a history lover, or just fascinated by lighthouses like I am as a fellow lighthouse explorer.
The history of lighthouses is what initially drew me to them. As an ex-archaeology student, they seemed a beautiful slice of human history. Lighthouses have provided safety for mariners over the centuries. They have also blessed average land folk with some invaluable insight into weather patterns.
Over the years, I’ve also visited many lighthouses across the UK. In 2025, as well as conducting more lighthouse group trips, I also plan on broadening my adventure to Ireland in May! Joining Lighthouse Explorers on these travels can be a thrilling experience.

Our Final Group Trip of 2025: Trinity Buoy Wharf Lighthouse
On the 12th of October, we had our final group trip of 2025. This marked our sixth outing of the year and our ninth lighthouse visit together overall. Back in June, six of us climbed the gorgeous Southwold Lighthouse. At the time, we still had two more trips planned. Spirits were high that day; what… Continue reading Our Final Group Trip of 2025: Trinity Buoy Wharf Lighthouse
The final chance to join the 2025 group trips
Our last group trip was Southwold lighthouse at the end of June. At the time, I had no idea that there would be no more trips over the next few months. Spurn Point and Tynemouth were firmly set in the diary, for July and August respectively. Unfortunately, storms then hit the north east of England.… Continue reading The final chance to join the 2025 group trips
Talking to Ed Peppitt about his 3,500 mile cycle ride
This week, I had the great fortune to talk to Ed Peppitt about his travels around England and Wales. These included cycling 3,500 miles, spotting over 300 lighthouses, and raising over £15,000 for Shift MS. Ed’s book, ‘The Beacon Bike’, is absolutely brilliant. In it, he shares the highs and lows of this huge undertaking.… Continue reading Talking to Ed Peppitt about his 3,500 mile cycle ride
If you prefer videos, I also visit lighthouses around the UK, and film my travels! To get involved, check out the Lighthouse Explorers YouTube playlist linked below. All interactions are very appreciated, it’s lovely to hear from you and see more lighthouse explorers join in.
And finally… if you have a favourite lighthouse, please don’t hesitate to let me know.
